MGA Tutors has been tutoring young people since 1992.  All our private tutors are fully qualified and are either teachers or have tutoring experience.  All are carefully vetted by us, CRB checked and references sought before we provide them to you. We specialise in Science and Maths, including Chemistry, Physics and Biology separate sciences. We also specialise in 11+/Kent Test Tuition and tuition for scholarship exams and common entrance tests for private schools.

We cover the Thanet area, including Margate, Westgate, Ramsgate, Broadstairs, Birchington, Herne Bay and Canterbury areas of Kent.

Subjects taught are as follows:

Double and Triple Science Award

Basic Skills (i.e. elementary Maths, English and Reading).

We also cover Mathematics (Maths or Numeracy) for Nursing and for Pharmacy Students studying for the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Exams.

Both Nurses and Pharmacy Students can find the Maths and Numeracy elements of drug dosage and dilution calculations daunting!  This aspect is covered by Professor Michael Grantham, a Chartered Chemist and Maths Tutor.

Tutors are available from primary, 11+/Kent Test, common entrance, KS2 and KS3, through GCSE to AS/A2 Level.

We serve Margate, Westgate, Ramsgate, Broadstairs, Birchington, Herne Bay, Canterbury and surrounding areas of Kent.

On these pages we are going to showcase some of the best work from our students.  If you are on here guys (and girls) then well done!

Ted - who has struggled with both Maths with Mike Grantham and English, with his tutor Mrs Hunt, is really starting to improve.  Reproduced below is an edited version of his poem, written for remembrance day, for his tutor, Mrs Hunt.

The original still contained quite a few spelling errors, which have been corrected below (though many, many fewer than he would have done prior to tuition).  The sentiments are all his, however!

The Great Army

They march for days, trapping their fears, trying not to think would it would be like.

Looking back at home, tying their ties for Sunday school and their mothers in joy at their first day of school.

The apple pie after a roast dinner:  the chicken, turkey, lamb, running in their mouth so sweet and juicy

1234 that’s all they say for days, so far they hear the shells of the enemy fire, looking up at the moon and the stars, hoping that their mums and family are looking down at them and smiling and crying at the same time.

They say why, why did I join, but then they say, “it was for the good of my country and the world.”

They think of when they were young riding their bike round the block; the eagle on their sleeves saying that they are real men and they have courage in their hearts.

We remember them as heroes and real men who fought for their country and the world - if they didn’t come when we called we would be gone.

The poppies grow for them, so we can wear them and so we can remember them.

Edward Rigden, November 2009.

River, who is becoming more and more capable at Maths with his tutor, Mike Grantham.  The test below was a Foundation Maths paper, on which he scored 80%!  What is so good about his work is the clear working used to arrive at the answer - something that many pupils struggle with
